Narberth Looks Ready for Regular Season After Round Robin with Conestoga and Cardinal O'Hara

Following last weekend’s strong performance at the pre-season frostbite tournament the Narberth Otters were back in action this weekend with a friendly round robin against Conestoga and Cardinal O’Hara at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken. In their first match of the day Narberth got off to a slow start and lost to Conestoga 2 tries to 1 (no posts were set up). A bright spot for the Otters was Nate scoring a rare full-field solo try by running the ball out of Narberth’s try zone and then successfully completing a kick and chase to finish it.

Reinforcements arrived in time for the second match and with more of the Otters playing in their natural positions game 2 went more smoothly resulting in a 2-0 victory for Narberth. Evan switched from 8man to the centers for this match and finished off a backline move with a try while Cameron made a heads up play to earn a penalty try from a quick tap to seal the deal. From a defensive standpoint George and Cam played their usual strong defense while Ifeyan and Antonio each made a ton of tackles in the second match.

Going forward the Otters need to show up ready to play from the start, keep their conditioning up, and play a little more heads up around the sidelines. If they make these tweaks and continue to play hard every week success will come.

Season Scoring Tally:
Tries: Cam (4) Evan (3) George (2) Nate (2) Nick (2) Ifeyan (1) Antonio (1) Mason (1)
Cons: Nate (5)
